Clients
Neil Thomson has undertaken a wide range of commissions in the public and private sectors both in Britain and overseas. He has worked in consultant teams backed by international funding agencies including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Britain’s Overseas Development Agency. He has also worked for local government and regional and national authorities in the UK. In the private sector UK clients include major commercial developers, international and national corporations, as well as consultant architects, engineers and planners.

UK Experience
Projects have ranged from the design of high quality hard and soft landscape schemes for commercial and corporate developments to inner city urban renewal schemes. Neil Thomson has worked on the restoration of derelict and toxic sites, gained awards for well landscaped housing schemes, designed business and retail parks, health, motorway facilities, hotels and leisure schemes.

He has acted as an expert witness at a number of public enquiries on sensitive development projects and carried out environmental assessments and conservation studies. He has also designed a number of large, prestigious private gardens.

International Experience
Neil Thomson has had experience working in the following countries outside Europe:
Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Burma, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, South Africa, Malta.

Projects have been concerned with raising environmental standards, creating new landscapes, often in bleak surroundings, and working on urban regeneration and regional planning projects.

Neil Thomson has worked on the design of airports, leisure facilities, planning of parks, major governmental complexes, the conservation of historic city centres, the provision of sustainable landscape in housing areas, and has advised, at the regional and national level, on strategies for environmental conservation and the safeguarding of special landscape areas.

Neil Thomson

Neil Thomson Landscape Architect is the continuation of
Glasspoole Thomson (UK) Ltd. Glasspoole Thomson was founded in 1979 with Claire Glasspoole. The principals now run separate parallel practices.

Neil Thomson is directly involved in the design and management of all projects. He seeks to act in his clients’ best interests, and is committed to good design and a proper awareness of, and sympathy for, environmental matters.

Neil Thomson is fully computerised and is accustomed to working with other consultants and computer linking with client and consultant offices.

Since 1999 Neil Thomson has run the London and then
Oxfordshire office of Glasspoole Thomson UK Ltd. In 2005 his practice name changed to Neil Thomson Landscape Architect Ltd.
